Just wanted to share with you all what we had for dinner the past two nights- tonight was takeaway night so I’m not going to take pictures of the food. Only food cooked by me or Arch will make it in this vain post. :)

Traditional haggis with boiled potatoes and broccoli.

Pork Liver Soup with bacon bits. I miss home…

For Kuchingites who are regular patrons of Kenny’s 拉子拦路 (for the uninitiated, ask Eddie he will know) supermarket, I am sure you would find that buying just a normal toiletry item off the shelf can be such a pain.

“小姐,买这种牌子的shampoo,很好用的!现在有offer. 可以省3块。

你的脸很油,用这个洗脸霜,包你的脸不会油。
你用很多make-up,用肥皂洗不干净的,来,用这种brand. (Guxxi what makes you think lao niang use soap to wash my face? 不识见过大蛇噢屎. )

还要moisturiser, cleanser, conditioner, “£$$%^&) 吗?”

Wah got selling stuff like that one meh? Might as well sell wholesale price to another smaller supermarket in 十七哩新村吧杀?

And they just target any poor soul who happens to be in that particular aisle and won’t let you off the hook until you buy the shampoo/conditioner/moisturiser/facial cleanser/makeup remover/powder etc which you’ve never heard of before in your life, know that it was probably mass produced in a dingy factory in a South East Asian country , just so that the salesgirl would stick her commission voucher on your face and you can have some peace.

There is totally none of that rubbish here. Customers are left in peace to mull over the products, taking their own sweet time to decide which products they want to shop until the shop closes.

I’m not against salespersons and their need to earn commission. Everybody has to make a living. However, selling something to someone who just does not want the product just doesn’t do it for me.

先进国万岁, hehe

No supermarkets were harmed in the making of this post.

The rambling continues

The small city miracle has been rambling in London for over a year! After she got hitched in spring 2009, She continues to ramble on matters revolving around her, including music, food and drink, books and of course her ongoing quest to make it big in the land of fish and chips!
