There is something about summer that brings a smile to everybody’s faces.
For me, its the beautiful kaleidascope of bursting colours in the seasonal veg that makes meal times so much more cheerful and exciting!
So instead of showing you the end product of what I cooked, here are the raw ingredients I used.

Another one for the album!

chicken breasts marinated in teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds, stir fried over low heat with chopped garlic. Serve with fried rice in belacan sauce with string beans.
A Moroccon themed dinner for tonight, cooked by my other half.

This year we’ve had a great summer thus far. Weather has been largely good, which explains why we have been able to do many outdoor activities in true London fashion.
Yesterday we went to a lovely pick your own farm at Enfield, Middlesex to pick some fresh summer berries. A friend told us to keep an eye out for the seasonal hybrid tayberries which you don’t get in supermarkets. I was also keen to pick fresh vegetables, especially courgettes.
It took us three tube rides, two buses and a 30 minute walk to the farm. But the scenery and fruit were well worth our efforts.
Here are some pictures of the day. A tip for you when picking tayberries-wear garden gloves as the fruit is surrounded by prickly branches!

Strawberry flowers

The much anticipated tayberry-a hybrid of blackberry and raspberry.

Blackcurrants- ever wondered what Ribena was made of?
Didn’t pick any of these, as they were very sour.

Blackberries which were quit sour as well.

My favourite pick of the day- Glen Ample variety raspberries. Absolutely easy to pick and sweet too!

Also picked some table-top strawberries, very succulent and sweet.

See how shiny the fruit is?

Courgettes!

Another glimpse of the farm before we left with all our fruit and veg.

Heavenly…

Als0 known as the humble cheese on toast which I first encountered almost 9 years ago as a student in England. I glammed the original version by adding chorizo, fresh basil leaves and also smoked salmon trimmings.
Absolutely delish!
Nothing like a girdle busting, artery clogging dessert to end a meal.
My man bakes mean cakes and here’s what we had for dessert a while back:

So evil… yet so good.
You know how you usually take things for granted when they are right around the corner?
Well thats pretty much what happened to me over the last year. Never really paid the open spaces in London much attention.
For the last 2 weeks, we went to Little Venice and also St James Park…

Little Venice… look at the beautiful canal!

More pics on my FB profile. Arch thinks we should make more effort to explore more museums and galleries!

Breathing life into my little corner. I love it!
