Between 2005 and 2006, I used to host a piano blog at http://www.miraclepiano.blogspot.com. I haven’t updated that blog for ages, but my passion for music has never ceased. All videos were uploaded to Youtube via my sister’s youtube account under the username Helibely.
Fast forward 3 years later, my sister told me that one particular video had been viewed over 37,000 times, and had garnered quite some attention. I decided to post it here for all of you to see- it is my improvised version of the Butterfly Lover’s Concerto, played entirely by ear.
Butterfly Lovers’ Concerto / piano cover
Enjoy! and let me know what you think. I will post the rest up soon. Some mp3 files will be coming through as well, these are the cover songs which I did for my friend’s wedding in 2008.
I plan to squeeze more time out of my daily schedule and revisit some of my favourite songs, and will continue to improvise as I go along.
Here’s another one for you today- my piano cover of A Maiden’s Prayer. I hope you will enjoy it!
This video was viewed over 15,000 times.
Thank you again for visiting my blog. Keep the comments coming!
Hi miracle8,
just enjoyed your piano arrangement of “The Butterfly Lovers” on Youtube and found your blog via Google. I’m impressed with your interest and knowledge of the Chinese culture, food and music. Considering that you are not from China.
I am also very impressed with your musical skills. I always wonder how people manage to play a piece that complex only by hearing. Well, I’ve been playing piano for about 5 years and what I could is maybe figuring out the melody of a song by listening and trying.
But I have one request to you: You notified the large number of requests of sheet music on Youtube? I think you would do us non-improviser a great favor if you could actually write your composings down. On this way, you share your great work with many other piano players and I have to say: I havn’t listened to a better cover than yours. So why not sharing it?
I hope you’ll respond
Greetings from Germany,

Hi Fangyi,
Thank you so much for your comments above, I really appreciate it! I didn’t realise that so many people viewed this video of mine until my sister told my about it recently. I really should buck up and start writing the music down- will be one of my pet projects for the coming months.
I have always loved Chinese culture-whilst I didn’t grow up in China, I have strong family ties and have some close friends there, and I discover something new about China every single day.
I will continue to improvise (and write the music down for a change) beautiful songs as I go along, and share them whenever I can.
Thanks again for dropping by and all the best in whatever you do.
